Per Diem is a daily rate for you and your dependents while you travel from your old duty location to your new duty location.
What is the Mileage Entitlement?
Your mileage entitlements during your military moves is a great opportunity to get reimbursed for travel in your personally owned vehicles. Although most people take advantage of the reimbursement for moving, they often forget that reimbursement for trips to airports or to ship a vehicle are also reimbursable. Don’t forget to keep track of ALL of your mileage!
When moving across the country:
- Mileage reimbursement is authorized for 0-2 cars.
- More than 2 vehicles will require you to process a request.
- Your transportation office will tell you if you are authorized 0, 1 or 2 vehicles.
Mileage may also be reimbursed for:
- Travel to an airport, train/bus station.
- Travel to ship a vehicle.
Personally Procured Move Reimbursement
Formerly called a (Do-It-Yourself) DITY move, these are moves where you will pack and ship everything on your own.
Temporary Lodging Expense/Allowance (TLE/TLA)
Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) and Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA) are two benefits available before you move into your new home.
Dislocation Allowance (DLA)
Dislocation Allowance (DLA) is an allowance given to service members, under certain conditions, as a partial reimbursement for relocating.
