Saving receipts during your PCS can be an annoying task, especially with everything else you have going on.
The concept of receipts gets a little personal for me, as I’ve done quite a bit of military travel, and receipt policies are often at the whimsy of the person processing your paperwork.
So here’s some advice when it comes to receipts:
Record your receipt on the MilVil App
The MilVil app is designed with receipt frustration in mind! Under costs an receipts, you can add a photo of your receipt for digital keeping. As a bonus, you can denote the purpose, and track it with a budget category.
Save your receipts
This is the one of the few times you will read that we encourage you to save the originals! Depending on your location, the processor may ask for original receipts.
Write on your receipts
Make a quick note on what the receipt was for. It may seem easy at the time, but especially if you are on an OCONUS tour, whether that receipt was for fuel or tolls may become confusing.
